About The Steven Hart Band

Steven Hart is a Cherbourg Murri elder singer-songwriter, acoustic guitar player, who shares his perceptions through country, folk and blues. Singing straight from the heart, Uncle Mook is supported by Maynard Heap (vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica and stomp) and Mathew Heap on bass.

Steven has been performing at Woodford as a solo artist doing chalkboards for decades, and with his band since 2004. Uncle Mook's journey has taken him through an extraordinary range of life experiences which he skilfully conveys through his intriguing songs. The Steven Hart Band has performed on the Queen Street Mail main stage since 2016, as part of the Gathering.

Uncle Mook's Songs engage audiences with contemporary issues such as domestic violence (Stand Our Ground, In Tune) and forced removals (Kullilli Dreaming, Dispossessed, Home Away from Home). Other songs such as Jenny Rose and Petticoat Lane are uplifting in contrast.
